Subway to Launch in Indonesia

The American fast-food chain is making its Indonesian debut in partnership with Map Boga Adiperkasa (MBA) as part of the brand’s larger expansion plans for the Asia region.

The very first Subway restaurant in Indonesia is set to open in greater Jakarta this year, with the chain being managed by MBA’s subsidiary, Sari Sandwich Indonesia. MBA currently has more than 590 stores across the country operating under brands such as Starbucks, Pizza Marzano and Krispy Kreme.

Subway CEO, John Chidsey, commented: “The demand for Subway restaurants is unprecedented in many markets around the world, including Indonesia. MAP is the ideal partner to kick off our expansion in the Asia Pacific region, where we know convenient, better-for-you options are in demand. This is just the start of our global expansion plans.”

The launch of Subway in Indonesia marks the first time that the branch has appointed an exclusive country franchise model.
