The centre is located in the Minhang District and will feature a 6,000 seat arena, a five star eSports hotel, an indoor skydiving venue and a breakdancing facility, among others.
Being developed by SuperGen Group, the new eSports Centre sits on a 50 hectare site. The heart of the new hub is a 6,000 seat arena which is set to play host to around 300 competitive matches each year. The centre will also feature the corporate Head Quarters for Edward Gaming, which is a subsidiary of SuperGen.
The news comes as the eSports market continues to gain traction across the world, and Shanghai has a growing reputation as an eSports hub.
The first phase of the project, which will cost around $770M, is expected to be completed by 2023.
