Target Hits the Mark in Times Square

Discount retailer Target Corp. has opened a 33,000sq ft location on one of the busiest blocks in New York City.

The new store is situated in Manhattan’s Times Square, on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. The outpost, Target’s 92nd location in the greater New York City area, is located at Tishman’s E Walk retail and entertainment complex, which is wrapping up a $60M renovation.

Befitting the area’s neon and glitz, the exterior of the new Target features an 84ft high, curved digital display and an illuminated sign of the retailer’s Bullseye the dog mascot — complete with an animated tail.

Unique design elements that reference the big city locale are sprinkled throughout the store. Colourful mosaic tiles spell out “Times Square” on the lobby walls, while exposed ceilings and suspended steel panels channel the industrial vibe of a subway platform. The store interior’s features polished concrete floors, backlit wall art and bold graphics (behind the checkout).

Situated between two of New York City’s largest subway stations, Target Times Square is designed for visitors and locals alike. It features a CVS pharmacy, grab-and-go food options and contactless grocery pickup services.
