The Dayton’s Project Announces Opening Date

The Dayton’s Project has announced an opening date for its inaugural maker’s market, The Departments at Dayton’s.

The building and the maker’s market will open to the public on 18 November, after undergoing a $350M historic redevelopment.

“We cannot wait to welcome local retail back to 700 Nicollet. What an exciting project with incredible momentum,” said Tricia Pitchford, Principal of Mid-America Real Estate. “This model offers a diverse selection of goods and brands not found anywhere else in Minneapolis.”

Mich Bertiaume, former curator for retail experiences at Superbowl LII and Mall of America, oversaw the selection of the Minnesota artisans and the overall development of the market. Some notable vendors coming to The Department at Dayton’s include: Pigs Eye Pottery, pottery and classes; Larissa Loden, handmade Minneapolis jewellery; Blue Heron Soap, sustainable soap products; Junita’s Jar, warm and packaged cookies; Zelba + Mary, hand-sewn toys and home goods; Kobi CO, bath and beauty products, candle embellishment workshops; Karen Morris, renowned milliner; Onyx Cool, cooling medical devices; Opal Cool, women’s cooling products; and Giftywrap, specialty paper and wrapping.

“The makers in The Departments at Dayton’s have captured the essence of this building and the imagination of Minnesota,” Mich Berthiaume, the curator of The Departments at Dayton’s, remarked. “We have a truly exceptional set of local vendors who will bring the project to life and serve as an incubator for small retailers and brands who have been hit so hard by the pandemic.”
