The Galleria Al Maryah Beats Projections

The Galleria, one of Abu Dhabi’s most prominent shopping and leisure destinations, recorded visitor numbers of around 22 million for 2020, higher than the management’s targets for the year.

Despite 2020 being a year of exceptional disruption due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The Galleria Al Maryah beat management’s expectations in terms of both visitor numbers and sales. In terms of sales, the shopping destination achieved ‘double-digital growth’ which has been attributed to an increase in consumer confidence once commercial activity embarked again.

Furthermore, two major promotions under the Retail Abu Dhabi umbrella are also considered key driving factors in the centre’s sales performance.

David Robinson, General Manager, The Galleria Al Maryah Island, said: “Despite the challenges that 2020 brought globally, we generated positive sales performance, added 68 new brands, including many first to-Abu Dhabi concepts. This demonstrates our resilience in the face of a pandemic and is a result of our continuous efforts to create bespoke customer journeys, elevate our offering and bring to life experiences that set us apart.”
