The global luxury hotel operator The Lux Collective (“TLC”) is headquartered in Singapore and manages the four hotel brands LUX*, SALT, TAMASSA and SOCIO along with Café LUX and other properties including Hotel Le Recif, Reunion Island and Ile des Deux Cocos, Mauritius, a private paradise island. Here RLI speaks with Paul Jones, CEO of The Lux Collective as we discover more about this innovative company and what it offers its patrons.
Ever since its inception, TLC has been disrupting the expectations of the resort experience and they have built a global reputation by innovating, thinking outside of the box and consistently delivering a world-class service.
Today the brand can boast a global presence with its 16 operating resorts and hotels across Mauritius, the Maldives, China and Ile de la Reunion with a further 11 sites in the development pipeline across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

“Currently we are focusing on the signing and business development of our flagship luxury brand LUX* for the Group’s strategic expansion,” explains Paul Jones, CEO of The Lux Collective. “With our award-winning resorts, LUX* is designed on the promise of a different kind of luxury, one that helps our guests celebrate life throughout their stay. We re-define the modern style of luxury and are excited to expand our global footprint into new awe-inspiring destinations set in secluded nature.”
Recent key openings for the company are the newest LUX* Tea Horse Road China site which launched in Shangri-La within the province of Yunnan back in September. It is positioned just a 10-minute drive from Shangri-La Airport, a 20-minute drive to Kadam Songtsam Monastery and Shikha Snow Mountain and a 30-minute drive from the nature and biodiversity of Napa Sea Wetland Nature Reserve and Pudacuo National Park.

Meanwhile, December of 2021 saw the unveiling of the LUX* Grand Baie in Mauritius which offers a spectacular setting with the promise of a modern take on luxury paired with extraordinary experiences. From the moment they decided to build LUX* Grand Baie, they set their positioning and standards as high as the finest luxury resort in Mauritius.
Looking to 2023 and beyond, Jones explains that TLC has five innovative projects in the works for their luxury flagship brand LUX. “Travellers seeking rich cultural heritage and scenic settings can explore the desert of Sharjah with a duo of openings, LUX Al Jabal and LUX* Al Bridi. Those seeking a new-kind of island life can uncover the jungle-draped coastlines of LUXNAM* Phu Quoc in Vietnam while, for those looking to learn about the art de vivre, LUX* Marseillan in southern France will offer guests a beachfront vineyard getaway with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Travellers looking to indulge in a luxury urban resort oasis coupled with the beauty of art, LUX* Guangzhou will feature the essence of nature-inspired travel to enrich the body, mind and soul, while exuding charming historic heritage.”

Away from these confirmed sites, TLC is looking at additional locations in Southeast Asia and East & Southern Africa. When scouting new properties, key factors for the team are the location, the sense of place, the potential for sustainable development and growth of the destinations and the business partners they will work with because as a purpose-led global hospitality group, they are passionate about working with like-minded partners who share and believe in the Group’s vision.
With innovation deeply rooted in its DNA, this innate sense of heritage is entwined into its destination resorts, operations and service excellence. Whether it is contemporary, top-of-the-range F&B culinary journeys, destination dining, wellbeing and fitness offering or signature Extraordinary Experiences, the company is always curating and raising the bar with its service offering.

Another key cog in the TLC machine is its focus on sustainability, which has become so incredibly important in the industry and to consumers in recent years. This area is of utmost importance to the continuing development of the business as they care about the environment and create a harmonious ecosystem and a purposeful experience for their guests and team members alike.
“Our Tread Lightly groupwide programme is implemented to achieve its sustainable goals for the greater good and offset carbon footprint at all its hotels worldwide. With the new normalcy post-Covid, our Group has recognised that it is imperative that sustainability and wellbeing must go hand-in-hand,” Jones highlights.
With its award-winning resorts, the company is redefining the modern style of luxury and is excited to expand their global footprint into new awe-inspiring destinations that are set in secluded nature. Be it in Mauritius, the Maldives, China or wherever, focusing on innovation and service is absolutely pivotal to the ethos of TLC.

“We feel a key driver of our overall success has come from the collective passion and dedication of our people, our wonderful team members have worked so hard in delivering heartfelt service for all the travellers who visit our resorts – who thus return time and again to stay at our resorts because they have become like family to us.”
As a purpose-led global hospitality group, putting people first is at the very core of their culture as well as staying true to the values of being passionate, responsible and innovative in all that they do. By providing comfort through thoughtful and exquisite designs, TLC creates experiences that make each moment matter for all guests.
