Three major retailers to make facemasks mandatory

Customers at all Walmart’s and Sam’s Clubs stores, along with The Kroger Co. and Best Buy will soon all be required to wear a mask.

The news comes for the world’s largest retailer after additional evidence has shown that wearing face masks can greatly stop the spread of Covid-19. In Walmart and Sam’s Club’s stores, the rule comes into effect on Monday.

Kroger have announced the same rule regarding facemasks, however their rule comes into effect a couple of days later on the 22nd July. Best Buy has already begun enforcing the rule as of yesterday.

“While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities,” stated Walmart US COO, Dacona Smith, and Sam’s Club COO Lance De La Rosa in a blog on the company’s website. “According to the CDC, face coverings help decrease the spread of Covid-19 and because the virus can be spread by people who don’t have symptoms and don’t know they are infected, it’s critically important for everyone to wear a face covering in public and social distance.”
