Tom Wood Launches First International Store in Japan

Norwegian luxury jewellery brand Tom Wood has opened its very first overseas store, opting for the Japanese capital of Tokyo to make its international retail debut.

Located in the city’s Aoyama district, the new Tom Wood store spans 320sq m across two floors and blends innovation with sustainable practices; celebrating the brand’s Nordic heritage while exploring the appreciation for Japanese culture.

Designed in collaboration with Swedish design agency, the ground floor is created with recycled materials including aluminium, steel and upcycled end-of-life textiles, designed to be reused and being fully circular.

Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls divide the space displaying a selection of jewellery. A nine-metre long wooden cashier desk with integrated jewellery cabinets stands in front of tall archive walls that functions as storage and displays.

“This store represents the intersection of our brand, our products and people,” said Morten Isachsen, CEO of Tom Wood. “We strive to make conscious choices in terms of materials, function and quality, but most of all to build retail stores that will be considered a time stamp that will be just as relevant in 10 or 15 years from now.”
