The move comes in response to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus and this latest action threatens the jobs of 900 people.

Tui, the multi-national travel and tourism company has revealed that 166 stores will close their doors across the UK and Ireland as shoppers continue to move into the online world due to the pandemic.

These store closures that come about because of the downturn in travel associated with the outbreak, according to Tui, which has forced many people to stay at home this year, rather than booking and enjoying their annual summer holidays.

“We want to be in the best position to provide excellent customer service, whether it’s in a high street store, over the telephone or online, and will continue to put the customer at the heart of what we do,” Tui Managing Director Andrew Flintham said.

“It is therefore imperative that we make these difficult cost decisions, look after our colleagues during such unprecedented uncertainty and also offer a modern customer service,” he said.
