Ukiyo Debuts at The Yards, Covent Garden

Longmartin Properties Ltd, a joint venture between Shaftesbury Capital and the Mercers’ Company, has announced that the Japanese temaki and sashimi concept, Ukiyo, has launched its debut restaurant at The Yards, Covent Garden.

Located at 8 Slingsby Place in the heart of The Yards, Ukiyo’s 1,636sq ft, two-level restaurant is a unique interpretation of the typical Japanese eatery, boasting an ultra-minimal walk-in, sit-at-the-bar experience.

Headed up by chef Konstantin Tskhay, who has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a strong expertise in Japanese products, produce, dishes and sauces, the menu focuses on Japanese hand rolls including King Crab California, Yellowtail and Spicy Tuna, as well as a tasting menu, Nigiri & Sashimi and desserts. It also boasts an East-Asian inspired mixology menu, with a variety of cocktails, whiskeys, wines and spirits on offer. It caters to 16 covers, with a basement space set to open in September. It will feature an intimate dining space for 10-20 people, seamlessly delivering a day-to-night atmosphere within The Yards.

Reinforcing The Yards’ position as a go-to dining destination within the heart of the West End, Ukiyo is the latest in a series of independent restaurants to join the destination, sitting alongside Gura Gura, the innovative pan-Asian concept, Lahpet, one of London’s only Burmese restaurants, as well as established names such as Dishoom and Le Bab.
