Uniqlo Sees Strong September in Japan

The retailer announced that total sales were up by as much as 10.4 per cent.

During the month of September, the company witnessed double-digit year-on-year growth in same-store sales and continued hot weather through the middle of the month resulted in strong sales of Summer ranges, and products designed to fulfil recent stay-at-home needs, their newly launched AIRism masks also sold well.

The company, like many other retail brands have felt the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, with stores having to be closed for long periods of time across the globe. Although the retailer is starting to gain more traction and is pleased with their overall sales, September saw four of its Japanese shops remaining temporarily closed and 90 of them (out of 766 in total) are operating shorter working hours. Given the circumstances and these stores closures, the figures presented by the company are even more impressive.
