US Growth Continues for Primark

Fashion and home goods retailer Primark is entering a new market in the Midwest as the brand looks to reach 60 stores in the US by 2026.

The retailer plans to open its first store in Michigan later this year at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, a northern suburb of Detroit. The 36,600sq ft store will open on 12 September with a grand opening event featuring a live DJ, giveaways and local treats.

The entrance into Michigan will follow Primark’s opening at the Florida Mall in Orlando on 29 August. Primark is in the midst of an ongoing expansion within the US and the new openings will bring Primark to 27 US stores across 11 states.

Recent Primark openings include stores in Virginia, Texas and Maryland. In addition, Primark recently opened its second US distribution centre in Jacksonville, Florida, which helps serve Primark’s US expansion with a focus on Southern states.

“Entering the state of Michigan is an exciting step for us at Primark and we’re already feeling the love – or Primania – from the community as we build our store team and educate those new to the brand on all we offer,” said Kevin Tulip, President of Primark US. “The folks in and around The Motor City have welcomed us with open arms and we can’t wait to return the favour as we gear up for opening day!”
