Vans Celebrates Flagship Anniversary

The American manufacturer of skateboarding shoes and related apparel will release a Japan-only t-shirt collection to commemorate the first anniversary.

The celebration is in reference to the opening of Japan’s first flagship store ‘Vans Store Harajuku’. The pre-sale for the t-shirt began on Saturday 12 June whilst from 3 July it will be available at the Vans store and the ABC-MART GRAND STAGE online store.

This new t-shirt collection uses the designs of Yutaka, who worked on the floor map of the store, and Shigeki Matsuyama, who was in charge of the artwork for all the walls of the spiral staircase. Yutaka’s model, which features the kanji design of “Tokyo,” has a line-up of two types: short-sleeved T-shirts (4400 yen) and long-sleeved t-shirts (5500 yen). For Matsuyama’s model, he incorporated the in-store design he worked on into a t-shirt.
