Walmart Looks to Expand Fashion Focus

The retail giant is set to launch Free Assembly which will provide both men’s and women’s clothing.

Given the ever-changing consumer behaviours as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus, Walmart has decided to grab the opportunity to expand into the fashion sector.

This can be attributed to three reasons. The onset and continuation of the global pandemic has seen a number of people prefer to order online or alternatively shop at one location and therefore limiting the amount of time spent shopping. Althea Peng commented: “Consumers are really valuing the convenience of a one-stop-shop. They are making some of their apparel purchases at the same that they’re going to pick up the essential items.”

She also goes on to summarise that people are more frequently looking to purchase comfortable and casual clothing as many people continue to work from home and have fewer social events that would require suits or dresses. Finally, customers are continually looking for a good deal.

The brand will debut this week online and in 250 stores.
