After many delays due to the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic, Walmart finally launched their subscription service, Walmart+ last month. The subscription service costs slightly less than Amazon Prime, coming in at $12.95 a month and offering unlimited free delivery on more than 16,000 items as well as a number of other perks.
A recent survey which has been conducted nationally by Pipslay found that 53 per cent of consumers had heard of the new subscription service, with 11 per cent of these having already signed up and another 27 per cent stating that they would be signing up soon. The survey results show that Amazon Prime has a competitor with 45 per cent of Walmart+ subscribers holding an Amazon Prime account with 19 per cent of these shifting from Prime to Walmart+ exclusively.
Roughly 38 per cent of those surveyed indicated that they believed that this new service is a threat to Amazon Prime.
