The retailer is planning to add 10 stores to its portfolio and open a $175M distribution centre.
Wegmans latest store located in Tysons, Virginia is hailed to open on November 4 and an additional nine stores are expected to open in the Mid-Atlantic region. Stores will be located in cities such as Greenville in Delaware, Rockville in Maryland, Cary, Chapel Hill, Holly Springs and Wake Forest – all in North Carolina, Alexandria and Reston in Virginia and Wisconsin Avenue and Rodman Street both in Washington. This is a huge undertaking for the company, as they usually only opens two or three new stores each year.
Laura Camera, Public Relations Specialist commented on the new expansion plans: “While we already have stores in the Maryland and Virginia area, we are excited to continue growing those markets. Building a new distribution centre in Hanover Country, Virginia helps support our growth for the next decade and beyond.”
