Westfield Topanga to Welcome Hermès

An expansion and redesign of the mall in the Los Angeles Valley will be anchored by the luxury brand, Hermès.

Hermès has just leased a 7,500sq ft space at Westfield Topanga which was left vacant by Sears, which was known as a long time anchor for malls and shopping centres throughout the country. The opening of this store will mark one of the first instances of a single luxury brand being an anchor tenant in a mall. In the past, brands such as Hermès have been part of a department store offering.

Colin Shaughnessy, Executive Vice President of US Leasing at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, commented: “Originally, we planned to have Hermès within the luxury precinct inside the centre. As we shared our vision for the redevelopment with their team, those plans shifted to give Hermès an anchor position that would enable better connections with their customers and an opportunity to create their own identity within the expansion.”

The space will be completely redeveloped before Hermès opens in 2023, meanwhile other parts of the 180,000sq ft expansion will begin opening next year.
