Whole Foods Enters Wyoming Market

The entrance to the market follows the acquisition of Jackson Whole Grocer, a 30-year old family business.

The deal will assist Amazon-owned Whole Foods to establish its presence in Jackson and the Western States. This follows the company openins stores in Montana, Denver and Colorado. Once Whole Foods takes over the location, the company intends for the store to be “a destination to discover new flavours and local items unique to the area.”

Mike Shepler, Assistant Store Director of Jackson Whole Grocer commented on the news: “We’re very similar to a Whole Foods and this is why it’s worked out very well. From a mission statement and guiding principles standpoint, we’re very much aligned. We’re community-driven, employee-driven and environmentally friendly.”

As of yet the fate of the Jackson Whole Grocer employees isn’t clear. The store is expected to stay open during the transition. The deal is expected to close in early 2021, and the amount has not been disclosed.
