Located in Hong Kong, this will be the Japanese brands first ever convenience store format.
To be known as Konbin by Yata, the new store concept will be smaller than the brands usual department store occupying 3777sq ft.
Intended to be a quick-stop for time-pressed customers, the new store will offer cook-and-eat concepts with an array of Japanese merchandise available, self-checkouts for ease and speed of service and instant dining spaces.
Following an investment of $774,000 from Yata’s parent group and the restaurant bans still in place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic causing people to spend more time cooking from home, Chief Executive Officer, Susanna Wong, believes that the convenience store will break even in three years and expects the average spend of customers to be around $10 per basket.
