The Government recently unveiled its long-expected Immigration Bill to re-balance the immigration system and end Free Movement for EEA nationals from 2021.
Guidance on the revised system was published just before the UK started its lockdown, with exhausted businesses already overloaded with questions and challenges.
Dealing with immigration compliance, pending applications and recruitment costs already committed, has proved difficult, with an international crisis making global mobility complex at best and temporarily impossible at worst.
It’s still possible to achieve the right results, but it requires more time, experience and expertise to manage migration in a crisis and to plan for the longer term.
